Business Testimonials
Davina Bell, Skills and Outreach Specialist for Sizewell C Nuclear Development
“We were so happy with the delivery and design of the Sizewell C STEMworks programs, the teaching staff were engaging and totally understood the aims of the project. Schools were delighted with the outcomes for young people. The content was all linked to the national curriculum it was incredible to see what progress young people made in such a short space of time. My favourite part was seeing the grand finale where young people consolidated their skills and were able to articulate their learning. A professional and inspiring service which I could not recommend highly enough”
Rebecca Bound, Early Careers STEM Outreach Officer
“By sponsoring the Gloucestershire K’NEX Challenge, we have the opportunity to influence over 3,000 students by running 100 workshops at schools across Gloucestershire. It can be challenging for schools to deliver engaging workshops if they are limited by the curriculum or a lack of resources. The collaboration between Renishaw and STEMworks means that we can work with more schools to deliver exciting activities that contextualise engineering and encourage students to consider studying STEM subjects at a higher level.”
Jonathan Richardson, Corporate Social Responsibility Officer for the Hinkley Connection Project
“When we first started looking at what we could offer as a project, the key thing for us was listening to what the local authorities wanted for their communities. We looked at several options before focusing on the STEM fund, Adult Skills programme and offering in-school STEM workshops for local Primary schools.
Over the past three years, STEMworks have delivered fun and hands-on electricity and energy workshops that highlight the work of National Grid. Their sessions also support areas of the Science and Design & Technology National Curriculum which is welcomed by the schools. We’re pleased with the high level of engagement and impact the workshops have and the professional service STEMworks provide.”
Phil Riste, Education & Outreach Coordinator HPC Employment Affairs Unit
“One of the key drivers for the Inspire Education programme was to engage, excite, to raise awareness and interest in STEM careers, and the Hinkley Point C project in particular. This would contribute to the local talent pipeline who would ultimately enter STEM careers.
Since selecting STEMworks in 2013 as an Inspire delivery partner, we have been impressed with their contribution in presenting interactive sessions for Secondary schools across Somerset. STEMworks activities raise awareness of STEM careers, develop employability skills, provide a sense of achievement and promote opportunities to young people.”
Tracey Mirrelson, Software Engineer
“I find the work that STEMworks does is invaluable in getting the primary school aged pupils engaged in discovering that engineering, either in hardware or software, is not about working in factories but is actually about solving problems in iterative and innovative ways.”
