On Thursday, 28th November, STEMworks visited The Crypt School to run the Safran Landing Gear STEM workshops, engaging students in an exciting and educational experience. The workshops brought together teams of four students who were challenged to design and build a vehicle powered by an air launcher. The primary task was for the vehicle to carry a precious cargo safely, integrating various aspects of engineering and problem-solving.
Throughout the workshop, students explored multiple facets of the challenge, including analyzing the costings and environmental impact of their designs. Their creativity and ingenuity were on full display as they trialed numerous ideas, showing impressive engineering skills and resilience.
The event was further enriched by the presence of Femi from Safran, who provided students with valuable insights into the inner workings of Safran and shared his inspiring career journey. His participation added a real-world perspective to the students' learning experience, highlighting the practical applications of STEM education.
The enthusiasm and dedication of the students were evident, as they worked collaboratively to meet the challenge's requirements. Their achievements were a testament to the potential future engineers among them.
STEMworks is excited to continue this momentum with more in-school workshops scheduled in and around Gloucester and Cheltenham in the new year, aiming to inspire and nurture the next generation of STEM professionals.
